Rituals
Habits with cues, streaks, stacks and one mercy miss.
Rituals are the habits you repeat. Each scheduled day creates one occurrence to complete, and consecutive completions build a streak.

Timed or check-off
- Timed rituals have a target duration (“Deep reading, 30 minutes”). You can run an expedition on them, and they count as done once you've logged 80% of the target.
- Check rituals are simply done or not (“Take vitamins”).
When they happen
A ritual runs daily or on specific days of the week. Give it a cue — a time and a place — so it has a clear trigger: “7:00, at my desk”. The rituals list can be filtered by morning, afternoon and evening based on the cue time.
Making them stick
- Identity — the kind of person the ritual makes you (“I am a reader”).
- Two-minute version — the smallest possible version for bad days (“read one page”).
- Habit stacks — anchor a ritual to another one so they follow each other (“after morning pages, take vitamins”). Finishing every ritual in a stack on the same day pays a bonus.
Streaks and mercy
Your streak counts consecutive scheduled days you completed. Two rules keep it forgiving but honest:
- Skipping an occurrence on purpose doesn't break the streak.
- Mercy: one missed day doesn't break it either — but missing two scheduled days in a row does. Completing the next occurrence gives the mercy back. A ritual with a streak worth protecting and its mercy already used shows up as at risk.
Longer streaks pay more: completing a ritual earns 10 XP plus your current streak, up to +7.
Pausing
Pause a ritual when life gets in the way — paused rituals aren't scheduled, so they can't be missed. You can have up to 50 active rituals; paused ones don't count, but resuming one needs a free slot.
