Your companion
The cat: its five stages, its colours, its moods and its nature.
Your companion is a cat or a dog that mirrors your XP. It is a kitten or puppy at first, grows up as you level, and its mood follows your day. It never shrinks. Tap it on Camp to see where yours is.
Cat or dog
Tap your companion on Camp to choose: a cat or a dog, its fur (black, grey, cream, ginger, brown or white), and a name if you like. Switching between cat and dog keeps the fur and the name. Until you choose, you have a cat.
Five stages
Its age follows your overall level. A new stage arrives at each of these levels, and the XP under each is the total you need to reach it. XP and levels shows how XP turns into levels. The picture grows up from kitten or puppy to adult at level 10.
The companion card shows how much XP is left to the next stage, for example “Becomes Young at level 5”.
Moods
Its mood changes with your day. It is never sad or hungry.
It sits when bright, rests on its paws when resting, and curls up when asleep. A puppy stands when bright.
Its nature
You don't pick a nature at the start. Until level 5 it is still learning, and acts the same for everyone. At level 5 it settles from how you work, and it stays that way after that. You see it once, when it is ready.
| Nature | Grows from |
|---|---|
| Playful | Many short sessions and side quests. |
| Wise | Long, deep focus. |
| Cuddly | Steady days, and rituals kept. |
| Aloof | Irregular bursts, big days and quiet ones. |
It changes how your pet acts. It doesn't change your XP.
You don't pick it: it comes from how you work.
During a focus session
On the timer screen your pet plays while you focus. If more than a quarter of a session is lost time, it turns watchful: it sits with its head down. Keep going and it settles. Expeditions explains lost time.
